MLB.com’s Jane Lee is reporting that the Athletics and Josh Reddick have avoided arbitration with a one-year deal. Salary details have not yet been made available. Reddick, in his first year of arbitration eligibility, had filed for $3.25 million while the A’s filed for $2 million, so Reddick’s 2014 salary should end up somewhere around the midpoint of $2.625 million. [Update: It’s for $2.7 million per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.]
Lee adds that, having avoided arbitration with Reddick, the Athletics have avoided going to a hearing for the ninth consecutive year.
Reddick turns 27 years old on February 19. He wrapped up the 2013 season with deflated numbers compared to his 2012 effort, due in part to a nagging wrist injury which required two different stints on the 15-day disabled list in May and in September.
