St. Louis has a big early lead in NLCS Game 4.
Cardinals shortstop Daniel Descalso opened the top of the third inning with a leadoff single and scored one batter later on a Matt Carpenter RBI single. Carlos Beltran then grounded out but the next man up — Matt Holliday — slugged a no-doubter high over the left field fence to give the Cards a 3-0 lead.
Dodgers starter Ricky Nolasco surrendered 25 hits and 19 runs — 17 earned — over his final 13 regular-season innings and was skipped in the NLDS. He might not last very long in this NLCS Game 4.
Cardinals starter Lance Lynn has not been overly sharp but can boast three scoreless innings so far.
The top of the fourth inning is about to get underway at Dodger Stadium.
