Fredi Gonzalez has no regrets about not using Craig Kimbrel in Game 4

Of course he doesn’t:

I dunno. I’ve watched Craig Kimbrel pitch for a few years now and there are scant few situations in which he isn’t impressively, even terrifyingly successful compared to other relief pitchers. And Kimbrel himself seemed to think he’d be just fine in that situation.

But Fredi’s no dummy. If he says today, two days after messing up, that he messed up it would alert his corporate overlords to some sort of malfunction with their managerial unit and could cause them to put in a requisition for a replacement part. That would be sub-optimal!

Nope, as long as everyone with the Braves acts as if things are going just fine then they’re going just fine.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Angels have signed 1B/DH Justin Bour to a contract, pending a physical. The Phillies non-tendered Bour last month.

Bour, 30, spent the 2018 season with the Marlins and Phillies, hitting an aggregate .227/.341/.404 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI in 501 plate appearances.

Bour will likely share first base with Albert Pujols, who is coming off of knee and elbow surgeries. Bour could handle right-handers while the 38-year-old Pujols faces lefties.
