Twins won’t be trading Josh Willingham

Minnesota placed Josh Willingham on revocable waivers and he was claimed by Baltimore, but the two sides weren’t able to come to an agreement and Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that the deadline will pass without a trade.

That means Willingham can’t be moved this season–Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reported that Minnesota was “asking way too much”–but with one year and $7 million remaining on his contract the Twins likely feel they can get more for him this offseason when their options aren’t limited to one team.

Willingham had a career-year in 2012, but has hit just .211 with 12 homers in 90 games this season, seeing his OPS drop by 160 points while spending time on the disabled list following knee surgery.
