Michael Morse is “very available”

Michael Morse just returned from a badly-strained right quadriceps muscle and he’s batting just .251 with a .313 on-base percentage in 56 games played this season. But he has good power and a market could develop for him at some point between now and Wednesday’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the M’s are making teams aware that Morse is “very available,” meaning it might not take all that much to get him. Morse struggles to stay healthy and isn’t a good defensive outfielder, but he had 31 homers and 95 RBI in 146 games with the Nationals in 2011 and he’s flashed that power at different points in the years since. He’d be a nice addition for a contender.

The 31-year-old is earning $6.75 million this season. He will hit the free agent market  this November.
