Chris Davis considers Roger Maris to be the single-season home run king

Well, this certainly kills those “he must be juicing” narratives. From the Baltimore Sports Report, who heard Chris Davis on Mike and Mike this morning:

Davis, who has openly been questioned by fans and reporters about using performance enhancing drugs, told ESPN’s Mike and Mike that he still views Maris as the single-season home run king.

“I do and the reason being, he was the last guy to do it clean,” Davis said. “There’s a lot of things that have been said about the guys who have come after him and you know and have achieved the record, but I think as far as the fans are concerned they still view Maris as being the all-time home run record [holder] and I think you have to.”

Or … maybe he’s just saying this to make us THINK he’s clean. Yes, this is EXACTLY what a roider would say!

Gosh, I just don’t know what to think anymore.

Bruce Bochy just told reporters at spring training in Scottsdale that he plans to retire following the 2019 season.

This will be Bochy’s 25th year as a big league manager. He managed the Padres from 1995 through 2006 and took the Giants over in 2007. He has, obviously, lead them to three World Series titles, in 2010, 2012 and 2014. For his career he has a record of 1926-1944.

He will likely be inducted into the Hall of Fame at his first opportunity.
