ESPN New York’s Adam Rubin reports that first baseman Ike Davis, recently demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, was not in consideration to take the roster spot of Lucas Duda, placed on the disabled list with a left intercostal strain. Duda had been one of the Mets’ more productive hitters, posting a .791 OPS with 11 home runs in 269 plate appearances. The Mets promoted 27-year-old Zach Lutz.

Davis, meanwhile, had started to catch fire in the Minors. In 50 plate appearances over 11 games, Davis posted a 1.224 OPS with four home runs. Impressively, he drew 11 walks and struck out only nine times. He was demoted after posting a .500 OPS at the big league level.
