Angels to recall Brad Hawpe tomorrow

The Angels signed Brad Hawpe, who at one time was a consistent 25-home run threat with the Rockies, to a Minor League deal back in April. With Triple-A Salt Lake, the 33-year-old lefty broke out, hitting .305 with a .909 OPS in 153 plate appearances. Mike DiGiovanna of the L.A. Times tweets that the Angels will promote Hawpe to the big league squad prior to tomorrow’s double-header with the Red Sox.

Hawpe hasn’t played in the Majors since 2011 with the Padres, when he hit .231 with a .645 OPS in 216 plate appearances. He had spent a vast majority of his playing time in right field, but with Salt Lake, he started 23 of 37 games at DH, nine games in right field, and five at first base.
