Marlins call up Matt Diaz from Triple-A

In an effort to put together some semblance of an MLB-caliber lineup without Giancarlo Stanton the Marlins are calling up veteran outfielder Matt Diaz from Triple-A, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.

Of course, whether Diaz has anything left in the tank at age 35 is iffy. He had a .621 OPS between 2011-2012 and signed a minor-league deal with the Marlins after being released by the Yankees in spring training.

He was off to a solid start at Triple-A, hitting .341 with an .843 OPS in 23 games, and it’s not like the Marlins really have any other appealing options.
