Davey Johnson said it was “World Series or bust” this season for the Nats. So far they’re scuffling, however. And last night we got a rare look at a ticked off Davey Johnson:
“I’m usually pretty patient, but I’m getting to my rope’s end,” Johnson said. “The effort’s there, but we’re just not getting it done. We’ve got the players who can get it done, we’re just not getting it done. It’s time to get a little mad.”
For the normally even-keeled Johnson that’s the equivalent of the “Bull Durham” lollygag-your-way-around-the-infield speech.
They just need to start hitting. Right now it’s Bryce Harper, Ian Desmond, Kurt Suzuki and a lot of underachieving.
