White Sox’s “bare bones” international scouting department gets some help

In recent years the White Sox have perhaps devoted less money and fewer resources to signing international prospects than any other team, but under new general manager Rick Hahn that’s starting to change.

Dan Hayes of CSNChicago.com reports that the White Sox have hired seven new scouts, five of whom will be devoted to international prospects after Hahn described that department as “bare bones” previously.

Hayes also notes that the White Sox’s amateur scouting department–international and domestic–now includes a total of 25 people, which is something I’ve often been curious about in terms of how much manpower teams have in that area.
