No federal charges to be filed as a result of Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios debacle

The best thing is to not have U.S. Attorneys considering whether or not to file charges against you in the first place.  The next best thing, I suppose, is to have them considering them and then decide not to file them:

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Rhode Island says no federal criminal charges will be brought in the case of the video game company owned by former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, which received a $75 million state loan guarantee before going belly up.

Way to go, champ. But:

Col. Steven O’Donnell, head of the Rhode Island State Police, said the investigation into whether any state laws were violated is still open and being pursued.

Good thing Schilling has such a good relationship with the State of Rhode Island.

Oh, wait.
