Brett Anderson has been out since undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery in July of last year, but Kate Longworth of CSNBayArea.com reports that the A’s left-hander is scheduled to start Tuesday for the first time in 14 months.
Anderson has an 18/3 K/BB ratio in 25 innings while rehabbing in the minors and threw a bullpen session Saturday in front of the A’s brass, who apparently deemed him ready to face big-league hitters for the first time since June 5, 2011.
Before the injury Anderson was emerging as one of the best young left-handers in baseball and even after 14 months on the sidelines he’s still just 24 years old.
