MLB, other sports leagues sue New Jersey over sports gambling

MLB is shocked SHOCKED to see sports gambling about to happen in New Jersey:

Four U.S. professional sports organizations, including the National Football League and Major League Baseball, sued to block sports wagering in New Jersey, saying it would raise doubts about the integrity of games … “Sports gambling in New Jersey would irreparably harm amateur and professional sports by fostering suspicion that individual plays and final scores of games may have been influenced by factors other than honest competition,” the leagues said in the complaint.

Meanwhile, a huge number of MLB teams continue to accept sponsorship from casinos, including Mohegan Sun, Harrah’s and others and gambling on baseball is widespread in Nevada casinos.

So what’s the objection? Pot not sweet enough for you, sports leagues?

The Yankees have activated catcher Gary Sanchez from the 10-day disabled list. To clear a roster spot for him, the Yankees optioned Kyle Higashioka to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Sanchez missed close to a month with a strained groin. His return is more than just a comeback from an injury, however. It’s a chance to start the season over in a sense, with the hopes of putting his dreadful first half behind him. The Yankees catcher hit a horrible .190/.291/.433 with 14 home runs, 41 RBI, and 36 runs scored in 265 plate appearances before going down. He’ll look to get back on track against the Mets tonight.
