Indians sign J.C. Romero to minor league deal

J.C. Romero has found another new home.

According to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the veteran left-hander agreed to a minor league contract Saturday with the Indians. He was sent to Triple-A Columbus, where he’ll attempt to prove that he’s worthy of a major league roster spot.

Romero was cut by the Cardinals in mid-May after allowing 14 hits and nine earned runs in just eight innings of relief. He then signed on with the Orioles but lasted less than six weeks in that organization.

The 36-year-old southpaw has a 4.15 career ERA and 1.51 career WHIP in 657-plus major league frames.
