Somebody woke “The Big Donkey.”
Adam Dunn went 3-for-4 with a pair of homers, a double and five RBI last night as the White Sox beat the Mariners 7-3. His finest night as a member of the Pale Hose, it was his first multi-homer game since September 24, 2010 and his first five RBI game since August 28, 2010.
Dunn is now hitting .265/.368/.571 with three homers, 12 RBI, six doubles, eight walks and a .940 OPS over his first 57 plate appearances this season. Just 13 games in, he’s already one-third of the way to the 27 extra-base hits he accumulated for all of last year.
Some improvement was probably inevitable and he’d probably be lucky if he hits more than .240 — check out those 22 strikeouts in 49 at-bats — but would anyone be surprised if he made it over 30 homers again?
