Jason Isringhausen makes Angels’ bullpen at age 39

Jason Isringhausen didn’t sign a minor-league deal with the Angels until late February, but Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports that the 39-year-old right-hander will be in the Opening Day bullpen.

Isringhausen will get at least $700,000 for cracking the roster and has further incentives based on appearances after throwing 47 innings with a 4.05 ERA and 44/24 K/BB ratio for the Mets last season.

He hasn’t pitched all that well or all that often this spring, but manager Mike Scioscia always seemed pretty set on Isringhausen making the team and he’ll likely serve in a middle relief role.
