D’Backs, Miguel Montero likely headed to arbitration hearing

FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal has been informed by sources that the Diamondbacks and catcher Miguel Montero are likely to require an arbitration hearing, scheduled for Tuesday morning.

Montero requested $6.8 million and was offered $5.4 million when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this month. The two sides have been unable to find a middle ground in the weeks since, and that’s unlikely to change within the next few days.

Montero, 28, posted a .282/.351/.469 batting line with 18 home runs and 86 RBI in 140 games last season while earning $3.2 million as a second-year arbitration-eligible player. He’s currently on track to become a free agent after this year’s World Series.

NEW YORK – Major League Baseball has sold its remaining share of a streaming service technology company to the Walt Disney Co. for $900 million.

The sale was disclosed Tuesday in Walt Disney Co.’s annual filing report through the SEC. MLB received the $900 million in exchange for the 15% stake it still had in a company called BAMTech, which originally started as MLB Advanced Media in 2000.

The technology helped MLB become a leader in sports streaming in the 2000s.

Walt Disney Co. has been buying chunks of BAMTech for the past five years and now owns 100% of the company. The National Hockey League sold its 10% share of BAMTech to Walt Disney Co. for a reported $350 million in 2021.
