The Disneys want back in to Major League Baseball.

According to Bill Shaikin of the LA Times, the family of the late Roy Disney, a nephew of Walt Disney, has formed a partnership with investment banker Stanley Gold in an effort to purchase the Dodgers from outgoing owner Frank McCourt.

They’ll be one of many high-profile groups in the running for the club, which could fetch a purchasing price of well over $1 billion. Other expected bidders include Magic Johnson, Joe Torre, Mark Cuban, Peter O’Malley and Steven Cohen.

The Walt Disney Co. owned the Angels in 2002 when that team beat the Giants in the World Series.
