At least six teams have “expressed interest” in C.J. Wilson

General manager Jon Daniels told T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com that the Rangers remain in contact with C.J. Wilson, but Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that they’re just one of at least six known teams that have “already expressed interest” in the free agent left-hander.

Morosi names the Yankees, Angels, Blue Jays, Marlins, and Nationals as the other five teams and spoke to “an official with one of the involved clubs” who believes Wilson will get at least a five-year deal.

In other words, his postseason struggles haven’t wrecked Wilson’s value at all.

Sullivan writes that the Rangers “have shown interest in Mark Buehrle, Edwin Jackson, and Roy Oswalt” as potential fallback options to Wilson and they could also decide to replace him by shifting Neftali Feliz from the bullpen to the rotation.

The Orioles announced on Sunday that first baseman Chris Davis has been placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a hip injury. Pitcher Evan Phillips was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.

It is unclear when Davis, 33, suffered the injury, but he hadn’t started since Thursday. Davis famously got off to a very slow start — setting a record for futility — but has hit better over the last six weeks or so. Since April 13, he has a .229/.302/.427 batting line with five home runs and 15 RBI in 106 plate appearances. Still not what the Orioles want, but better than nothing.

Renato Núñez and Trey Mancini will handle first base while Davis is recovering from his injury.
