Jon Paul Morosi interviewed an American baseball player who played in the Venezuelan Winter League. The player, who asked to remain anonymous, spoke frankly about the good — and there’s a lot of good — as well as the bad and the ugly about it all.
Read it all because it’s all worth reading. But the upshot is that, yes, it’s pretty harrowing, but generally speaking the security is pretty fantastic for foreign players in Venezuela. It’s guys like Wilson Ramos, who live in the country and aren’t in a security bubble, who are sadly more at risk.
