We noted last night that Matt Holliday left the Cardinals-Pirates game with an injury to his right hand. At the time it was unclear how serious the injury was, but Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Holliday “could be out most, if not all, the final two weeks of the season.
Holliday is quoted in the article trying to be optimistic, but he says that he’s never felt anything like this before. The real concern is if it’s a tendon or something, which could be a major injury that would not only cost him the last two weeks of the season, but which could seriously impact his offseason program.
Holliday will be evaluated today, but right now it seems bleak.
