Padres prospect Donavan Tate injures wrist after returning from 50-game suspension

Just three weeks after returning from a 50-game suspension for a “drug of abuse” Padres prospect and former No. 3 overall pick Donavan Tate has suffered a season-ending wrist injury, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

He managed to play a total of just 39 games in his first “full season” as a professional, but at least Tate performed well when in the lineup with a .288 batting average, .410 on-base percentage, and 19 steals.

He’s a long way from the majors and the on- and off-field setbacks will delay his timetable even further, but the speedy center fielder is still just 20 years old.
