Adam Lind has been out since May 8 with a back injury and manager John Farrell said this afternoon that he’s “at least 10 days away” from possibly coming off the disabled list.
Lind is eligible to be activated Monday, but Farrell’s comments to John Lott of the National Post indicate that he may not be back until June.
David Cooper initially got a chance to replace Lind at first base, but the Blue Jays optioned him back to Triple-A and Edwin Encarnacion has been the primary starter there recently. Farrell indicated that Juan Rivera may also see some action at first base.
Lind, who struggled last season following a breakout 2009, was hitting .313 with seven homers and an .858 OPS in 32 games before the injury.
