Jason Bay is the latest player to take advantage of the new paternity leave roster exemption.

He’ll be away from the Mets for 1-3 days to be with his wife for the birth of their third child and Lucas Duda has been called up from Triple-A to take his roster spot.

Duda began the season with the Mets, but was optioned back to the minors on April 10 and has hit .257 with three homers and a .796 OPS in 21 games at Triple-A.

Bay, who started the season on the disabled list with a rib cage injury, has hit .250 with one homer and a .693 OPS in 10 games after missing much of last season with a concussion.
