I wrote yesterday about consensus No. 2 prospect Mike Trout’s hot start at Double-A as a 19-year-old, so it’s only fitting to note that consensus No. 1 prospect Bryce Harper hit his first pro home run last night at Single-A as an 18-year-old.
Harper smacked a two-run homer off 19-year-old Astros left-hander Ruben Alaniz. And he went opposite field with it.
Even with the homer Harper is off to a slow start, going 6-for-28 (.214) through seven games.
