Cody Ross will not get Jeff Loria’s Ferrari

A tale as old as time:

Jeffrey Loria delivered a rah-rah speech inside the Marlins clubhouse the season before last in which he allegedly told players that he would give them his car — a red Ferrari – if one of them was voted MVP of the National League Championship Series.
Cody Ross was there for the speech, went on to win the the NLCS MVP, and now he’s been totally screwed out of the Ferrari. Man, that Loria . . . .
OK, there may be more to that. And, OK, Ross wasn’t on the Marlins when he did it, but really, Jeff Loria should really be forced to give up his Ferrari here.  I’ll talk to a couple of lawyers to see what we can do.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said yesterday that Hyun-Jin Ryu will start Game 2 of the World Series. Walker Buehler will start Game 3.

Ryu, a lefty, was 7-3 with a 1.97 ERA in a 15-start regular season. He pitched seven scoreless innings in the NLDS against the Braves and made two starts in the NLCS against Milwaukee. The Dodgers won his first one there, in which he allowed two runs in four and a third. He took the loss in Game 6 after getting lit up for five runs on seven hits in three innings.

Buehler, who was 8-5 with a 2.62 ERA in the regular season, went dour and two-thirds and allowed just one run in the NLCS clincher against the Brewers on Saturday night.
