Brandon Webb very encouraged after latest bullpen session

Brandon Webb is back to feeling somewhat optimistic again following his latest bullpen session yesterday, throwing around 50 pitches and saying afterward that “the movement I thought was by far the best I’ve ever had, I mean in years.”
Webb has now avoided a setback for three consecutive mound sessions and is hoping to face live hitters in a simulated game as soon as this weekend, according to Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.
If things go smoothly against actual hitters swinging actual bats Webb could be cleared to join the Diamondbacks’ bullpen in the hopes of making a few relief appearances before the end of the season. The impending free agent hasn’t pitched since Opening Day of last year and is about 13 months removed from shoulder surgery.
