Ichiro Suzuki on verge of joining Pete Rose as the only players with 200 hits in 10 seasons

For a brief time it looked like Ichiro Suzuki’s streak of 200-hit seasons might end at nine, which is one short of the all-time record held by Pete Rose, but now he’s riding a 13-game hitting streak that includes a total of 21 hits and it looks like he’ll once again clear 200 with ease.
Suzuki needs 14 hits in the Mariners’ final 19 games and he’s averaged 27 hits per 19 games for his career, so he’s all but assured to join Rose as the only players in baseball history with double-digit 200-hit seasons. Even more impressive, they are Suzuki’s first 10 seasons.
Rose had 200 hits 10 times in 24 years. Suzuki will soon be 10-for-10.
