Johan Santana to throw off mound Sunday

Johan Santana, who left Thursday’s start against the Braves with a strained left pectoral muscle, threw from a distance of approximately 100 feet Saturday at Wrigley Field, according to Adam Rubin of

“Everything is good,” Santana said. “Playing catch I don’t feel
anything. So we’ll see how it feels tomorrow. Tomorrow I’m supposed to
get on the mound and find out how it feels.”

Santana has yet to deviate from his normal routine between starts, so unless he suffers a setback during his light bullpen session Sunday, he should make his next turn Tuesday against the Nationals.

The 31-year-old left-hander is 11-9 with a 2.98 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 144/55 K/BB ratio over 29 starts this season.
