Dontrelle Willis throws six shutout innings

Dontrelle Willis windup.jpgDontrelle Willis has had a couple of decent starts so far this season, but after today’s performance it may be safe to say that he’s officially back. D-Train threw six shutout innings with six strikeouts and gave up only four hits and two walks, leading the Tigers to a 3-0 win over the Twins.

Granted, this was a diminished Twins’ lineup — Morneau and only one pinch hitting at bat for Mauer — but it was arguably Willis’ best start in four years. Tigers and Willis fans will no doubt take it.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that the Angels have signed 1B/DH Justin Bour to a contract, pending a physical. The Phillies non-tendered Bour last month.

Bour, 30, spent the 2018 season with the Marlins and Phillies, hitting an aggregate .227/.341/.404 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI in 501 plate appearances.

Bour will likely share first base with Albert Pujols, who is coming off of knee and elbow surgeries. Bour could handle right-handers while the 38-year-old Pujols faces lefties.
