The Dodgers acquired pitcher Bronson Arroyo from the Braves as part of a massive three-team trade also involving the Marlins. The thought was that the money-laden Dodgers would pick up Arroyo’s tab — roughly $8 million — to offset some of the salaries involved in the expansive trade. Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports that the club is only picking up $500,000. The Braves are on the hook for the remaining balance
Arroyo, 38, had Tommy John surgery on his elbow in July last year. He could make his season debut by the end of August or, more realistically, in September. The veteran of 15 seasons posted a 4.08 ERA with a 47/19 K/BB ratio across 15 starts last season prior to landing on the disabled list.
