Video: Rob Refsnyder hits his first major league home run

Yankees second baseman Rob Refsnyder went hitless in his major league debut on Saturday, but redeemed himself on Sunday, going 2-for-4 with his first major league home run on Sunday against the Red Sox. His two-run blast, off of Alexi Ogando,¬†turned out to be an important home run, as it boosted the Yankees’ lead to 8-4 in the ninth inning and they would go on to win 8-6.

Refsnyder earned a promotion in part because the Yankees haven’t had any production at second base, as their aggregate .595 OPS at the position is third-worst in the American League. As a result, the 24-year-old will be given a good opportunity to claim an everyday job.
