James Schmehl of MLive.com reports that the Tigers have activated Anibal Sanchez from the 15-day disabled list. The team has not made a corresponding roster move, but are expected to prior to Sanchez’s start against the Red Sox tonight. Schmehl suggests it will likely be Robbie Ray. (Update: It’s not Ray.)

Sanchez had been sidelined since exiting his start on April 26 against the Twins with a blister on the middle finger of his right hand. In five starts, Sanchez has a 3.13 ERA with a 24/11 K/BB ratio in 23 innings.

Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports that the Angels have hired former Tigers manager Brad Ausmus as a special assistant to GM Billy Eppler.

Ausmus, 48, managed the Tigers for four seasons, accruing a 314-332 (.486) record. The Tigers fired him after the 2017 season and hired former Twins manager Ron Gardenhire in his place.

Ausmus will assist with scouting and evaluations of players in the Angels’ system, amateurs, and players in other organizations.
