With zero homers over his first 28 games this season, Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia entered last night’s action stuck on 99 home runs for his career. However, he finally busted out of his power drought when he took Athletics reliever Ryan Cook deep for a grand slam in the sixth inning. Not a bad way to reach a personal milestone.

The home run was reviewed for possible fan interference, but was eventually upheld. The Red Sox went on to defeat the Athletics 7-1.

Pedroia’s grand slam also pushed him to 503 RBI for his career. He’s the second player in franchise history to amass 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases, joining Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski.

The Reds have signed outfielder Ben Revere to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports. Revere is expected to take home a salary between $1 million and $1.5 million if he makes the major league roster, Heyman adds.

Revere, 29, spent last season with the Angels. He batted a light .275/.308/.344 in 308 plate appearances. Revere does have some speed as he stole 21 bases last year.

Revere will try to earn a spot on the roster as a backup outfielder. The Reds’ starting spots are spoken for with Adam Duvall, Billy Hamilton, and Scott Schebler.
