The Giants alter their alternate orange jerseys and it is good

I don’t like alternate orange (or red or solid blue in most cases) jerseys, but if the Giants are going to do it, at least they’re finally doing it right:

As Grant Brisbee notes at McCovey Chronicles,– complete with visual aids in the form of a 1981 Fleer Willie McCovey card — the shade and the script now match what the Giants sported in the early 80s. It’s a better, more muted color and the script Giants adds a nice touch to it that the block Giants didn’t have.

The Braves claimed lefty reliever Grant Dayton off waivers from the Dodgers, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Dayton, 29, underwent Tommy John surgery back in August and is almost certainly out for the entire 2018 season. The Braves, obviously, are making a longer-term play here by acquiring him, as he is under team control through 2022.

Over parts of two seasons in the majors, Dayton has a 3.42 career ERA with 59 strikeouts and 18 walks in 50 innings.
