Joba Chamberlain has been contacted by “more than a dozen teams”

Joba Chamberlain’s career has gone off the rails after a promising start, but it appears that plenty of teams are interested in taking him on as a reclamation project.

Chamberlain was mishandled early in his career with the infamous “Joba Rules” and hasn’t been the same since returning from Tommy John surgery and an ankle dislocation, posting a 4.74 ERA in 67 relief appearances over the past two seasons. His control was the big issue this year, as he averaged a career-high 5.6 BB/9. Still, he’s only 28 years old and his velocity is still there, so it’s no surprise that multiple teams are targeting him as a buy-low flier.

Both a Kinsler and a Kintzler made headlines at the Winter Meetings. After the Angels acquired second baseman Ian Kinsler from the Tigers, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Nationals have inked reliever Brandon Kintzler to a two-year contract, pending a physical.

Kintzler, 33, spent the latter half of his 2017 campaign with the Nationals after the Twins traded him. Between both clubs, he put up an aggregate 3.03 ERA with 29 saves and a 39/16 K/BB ratio in 71 1/3 innings.

Sean Doolittle will handle save situations for the Nationals. Kintzler and Ryan Madson will bridge the gap to him in the seventh and eighth innings.
