Chris Iott, beat writer for MLive.com, has the story:
Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland seemed concerned about the defending American League Most Valuable Player after a sore groin forced him to leave the game Saturday night at the start of the 10th inning of his team’s 7-6 victory in 12 innings over the Chicago White Sox.
“I’m not exactly sure,” Leyland said when asked exactly when Cabrera irritated the injury, “but I don’t think it’s too good.”
Cabrera was 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored before being lifted in the 10th. He would admit only that he was feeling “sore” in the clubhouse afterward.
The good news for the Tigers is that they can clinch the American League Central title on Sunday with a win over the White Sox and an Indians loss to the Astros. Look for Cabrera to play sparingly down the stretch.
