Two words for you: mini bar

USA Today talked with Bronson Arroyo, David Freese, C.J. Wilson and David Wright about their travel preferences. Here’s the short version:

The longer version: food is important. First thing they check when they check in to a hotel? Room service hours and if breakfast is still being served. And they all like that minibar:

Arroyo, Freese and Wright unite over the same candy: M&Ms. Freese sets the scene for the ultimate impulse purchase, “There’s nothing wrong with waking up in the middle of the night, going to the bathroom and grabbing those peanut M&Ms on your way back to bed.”

Mmmmm …. night candy ….

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports that there is some momentum in talks between the Mariners and free agent outfielder Jon Jay.

Jay, 32, hit .296/.374/.375 in 433 plate appearances with the Cubs last season, which is adequate. He’s heralded more for his defense and his ability to play all three outfield spots.

The Mariners are losing center fielder Jarrod Dyson to free agency and likely don’t want to rely on Guillermo Heredia next season, hence the interest in Jay. The free agent class for center fielders is otherwise relatively weak.
