Via the Manny Does Taiwan blog, video of Manny Ramirez’s third home run of the season. Complete with (a) all dirt field; (b) opposing team uniforms that look like a cross between the 1979 Pirates and some third level bad guys from a new Mario game; and (c) about the slowest home run trot you’ll ever see:
I will watch Manny Ramirez hit home runs until he’s either unable to continue hitting home runs or I’m unable to see. I don’t care how much of a jerkburger he is.
Report: Momentum in talks between Mariners, Jon Jay
Jay, 32, hit .296/.374/.375 in 433 plate appearances with the Cubs last season, which is adequate. He’s heralded more for his defense and his ability to play all three outfield spots.
The Mariners are losing center fielder Jarrod Dyson to free agency and likely don’t want to rely on Guillermo Heredia next season, hence the interest in Jay. The free agent class for center fielders is otherwise relatively weak.
