Rex Ryan thinks that the Orioles should’ve switched their September 5th game to a road game

UPDATE: Buck Showalter has responded. Short version: “stay out of it.”

1:01PM: The matter has been settled for some time, and it doesn’t even involve the New York Jets, but Rex Ryan is still upset that the Baltimore Ravens can’t play their opening game at home due to a previously-scheduled Orioles home game. He decided to vent about it yesterday:

“Well who really cares, you’ve got 81 at home, maybe you could have done the right thing and given one up and then played 82 on the road and then 80 at home. I really don’t think people are going to care about that game … You have a chance to have the defending world champs open up the season at home where they rightfully should. That’s unfortunate.”

Whatever. All I can think is that the Orioles stand a much better chance of playing actually relevant games in September than the Jets do, so this is all amusing.

The Yankees announced on Wednesday that the club traded outfielder Jabari Blash to the Angels in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Blash, 28, was acquired by the Yankees from the Padres back in December in the Chase Headley trade. In trading Blash to the Angels, the Yankees were able to free up a spot on the 40-man roster for Brandon Drury, the infielder they acquired as part of a three-team trade with the Diamondbacks and Rays on Tuesday.

Over parts of two seasons in the majors, Blash has hit an underwhelming .200/.323/.336 in 279 plate appearances. He will try to play his way into a bench role for the Angels this spring.
