Oakland’s Coco Crisp failed to haul in a fly ball in center field in Game 2 of the ALDS on Sunday afternoon at Detroit’s Comerica Park, allowing the Tigers to tack on two runs in an eventual 5-4 Detroit victory. But the speedster just leapt out of the doghouse in the second inning of ALDS Game 3 tonight at O.Co Coliseum:
The A’s lead 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. They’re down 2-0 in the five-game series.
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports that there is some momentum in talks between the Mariners and free agent outfielder Jon Jay.
Jay, 32, hit .296/.374/.375 in 433 plate appearances with the Cubs last season, which is adequate. He’s heralded more for his defense and his ability to play all three outfield spots.
The Mariners are losing center fielder Jarrod Dyson to free agency and likely don’t want to rely on Guillermo Heredia next season, hence the interest in Jay. The free agent class for center fielders is otherwise relatively weak.
