The Mets are poised to offer David Wright a long term deal

Brian Costa of the Wall Street Journal says that the Mets are planning on offering David Wright a long term deal this summer.

There have been some rumblings of contract talks between Wright and the Mets, but nothing concrete has been reported. Lots of “the Mets really like, Wright and want him to be the face of the franchise” stuff.  Like a boy saying he likes a girl, maybe like-likes her, but hasn’t asked her out.

Maybe it’s been a matter of the Mets getting their financial house in order. Maybe it’s been the Mets watching Wright blister the ball so far this year. Their great-but-somehow-still-underrated third basemen is only hitting .400/.489/.591 on the season while playing in 31 of 35 games.

So now maybe they’ll have the courage to ask him out.

We know Clayton Kershaw will oppose Dallas Keuchel in Game 1 of the World Series. We now know the rest of the Dodgers’ rotation order, per Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. After Kershaw, it’ll be Rich Hill, then Yu Darvish, followed by Alex Wood.

No surprise, that’s the same order the Dodgers used in the NLCS against the Cubs. Dodger starters combined to post a 2.67 ERA with 31 strikeouts and four walks across 27 innings in the NLCS.

The Astros haven’t yet announced their rotation order, but we can safely assume Justin Verlander will follow Keuchel in Game 2.
