UPDATE: It’s official:

#Rays say Longoria has partial tear of left hamstring. Out 6-8 weeks.

11:33 AM: When Evan Longoria went down last night it was thought to be his knee. Which, while potentially bad, could have been fairly minor depending on what exactly he hurt. Knees and meniscusy things are funny like that. Ask Chipper Jones who, while hurt all the time, rarely misses tons of consecutive games by virtue of any one knee injury.

But Longoria doesn’t have a knee problem. He has a hamstring problem:

Hearing #Rays Longoria has a hamstring issue, guesstimate is he’ll be out 6-8 weeks. Could have been worse.

Ugh, 6-8 weeks for the Rays’ best player while Elliot Johnson backs him up? Bad news.
