UPDATE: So much for that. Capuano signed with the Dodgers.

Among the many items on the Twins’ to-do list this offseason is adding another veteran starter to the rotation and LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that they’re interested in left-hander Chris Capuano.

Capuano is coming off a bounceback season for the Mets at age 33, remaining healthy for the first time since way back in 2007 while throwing 186 innings with a 4.55 ERA and 168/53 K/BB ratio.

His incentive-laden one-year contract proved to be a bargain for the Mets, but this time around he might be looking for a two-year deal despite a lengthy history of arm problems and zero 200-inning seasons since 2006.

The Mets have scratched Jacob deGrom from tonight’s start against the San Diego Padres because of the risk of rain in New York. Rafael Montero will start in deGrom’s place.

Manager Terry Collins said there is no physical issue with deGrom, but that because of the chance of rain, he didn’t want to risk a short outing. de Grom will start Friday’s game against the Pirates.

Red Sox to activate David Price for a Monday start

Earlier today we talked about how David Price was knocked around in a minor league rehab start. Apparently he felt good while being knocked around because he’s going to make a start for the Red Sox on Monday afternoon against the White Sox.

Healthy is all that truly matters at this point, what with Drew Pomeranz struggling and Steven Wright out for the year. The Sox need someone to eat some innings at the moment. If it takes him a bit to get super sharp, well, so be it.
