Today was the deadline for the Mets to choose the two players to be named later coming their way in the Francisco Rodriguez trade and they picked right-hander Adrian Rosario and left-hander Daniel Ray Herrera.
Herrera is 26 years old and pitched in the majors for the Reds and Brewers, throwing 94 total innings with a 3.94 ERA and 66/34 K/BB ratio. He’s a 5-foot-6 southpaw with a mid-80s fastball, but could be a useful middle reliever for the Mets.
Rosario is 20 years and has pitched very well as a reliever at low Single-A, but only after he flopped as a starter at high Single-A and was demoted at midseason.
Since the July 12 trade Rodriguez has appeared in 19 games for the Brewers, throwing 17 innings with a 3.12 ERA and 21/6 K/BB ratio. He’ll be a free agent after the season.
