Bobby Abreu has more 20-20 seasons than anyone outside of the Bonds family

Last night Bobby Abreu reached 20 homers and 20 steals for the ninth time, which is one short of the all-time record shared by Barry Bonds and … Bobby Bonds.
That a father and son are the only two players ever with double-digit 20-20 seasons strikes me as one of the more underrated amazing facts in baseball history. And that Abreu is right behind them with nine such seasons is pretty remarkable too.
There have been a total of 347 seasons with 20 homers and 20 steals accomplished by 162 different players, 77 of whom have done it at least twice. Shin-Soo Choo became one of those 77 guys last night, reaching 20-20 for the second straight year.

Infielder Trevor Plouffe has signed a minor league deal with the Phillies, Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports. Plouffe asked for and was granted his release from the Rangers earlier this month.

Plouffe, 31, had a double and a home run in 17 plate appearances with Triple-A Round Rock to start the 2018 season. He spent last year with the Athletics and Rays, putting up a meager .198/.272/.318 batting line in 100 games.

Plouffe has mostly played third base throughout his career, but can also handle the other three infield spots and both outfield corners, so he’ll serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Lehigh Valley for the Phillies.
