Armando Galarraga set to rejoin the Tigers' rotation tonight

Demoted to Triple-A earlier this month just six starts after his imperfect game, Armando Galarraga is scheduled to rejoin the Tigers’ rotation tonight against the Rangers in Detroit.
At the time of the demotion Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said the move was made primarily to get Galarraga some work during the All-Star break and that appears to be the case, as he was in Toledo long enough to pitch just once (and appear at the ESPY awards alongside Jim Joyce).
Of course, that 22-year-old rookie Andy Oliver flopped in his first taste of the majors, going 0-4 with a 7.36 ERA in five starts, made the decision to recall Galarraga so quickly much easier. Galarraga is 3-2 with a 4.45 ERA and 22/17 K/BB ratio in 45.2 innings overall this season, giving him a 4.60 career ERA in 385.2 innings.

The Giants announced on Monday night the signing of outfielder Austin Jackson. According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, it’s a two-year, $6 million deal with performance incentives that allow Jackson to earn up to an additional $2.5 million for a total of $8.5 million.

Jackson, who soon turns 31 years old, spent last season with the Indians. In 318 plate appearances, he hit .318/.387/.482 with seven home runs, 35 RBI, and 46 runs scored.

The Giants have been on the hunt for a center fielder and Jackson addresses that need relatively cheaply. Jackson will join Hunter Pence and newcomer Andrew McCutchen in the outfield.
