Saturday’s Game 6 of the ALCS between the Yankees and Angels has been postponed due to rain. The Yankees made their best efforts to get the game in, even opening the gates and conducting warm-ups on the field, however there didn’t seem to be an adequate window in the forecast.
The two teams will reconvene on Sunday night, with first pitch scheduled for 8:20 pm ET. Andy Pettitte will square off against Joe Saunders or possibly Jered Weaver. You can join me right here for a live chat during the game.
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports that there is some momentum in talks between the Mariners and free agent outfielder Jon Jay.
Jay, 32, hit .296/.374/.375 in 433 plate appearances with the Cubs last season, which is adequate. He’s heralded more for his defense and his ability to play all three outfield spots.
The Mariners are losing center fielder Jarrod Dyson to free agency and likely don’t want to rely on Guillermo Heredia next season, hence the interest in Jay. The free agent class for center fielders is otherwise relatively weak.
