Quote of the Day: Does Jose Guillen suck?

“I hate making excuses. If I suck, then I suck. And I suck. That’s
the way I’m playing. If you suck, you suck. You have to take
responsibility in this game. Right now, that’s the way I feel. Yes, I
suck. I’m embarrassed by the money that I making, and playing the way
I’ve been playing. I’ll swear that on my kids’ (lives). I feel very
embarrassed. Sometimes, I feel I should take money out of my own pocket
and buy tickets for every fan. Because you know what? For a $12 million
man, these are not the numbers you should be expecting. I admit it. I’m
not playing to my potential.”

Jose Guillen, taking all the fun out of ripping him. I mean really, how are any of us going to top that?

The Twins have informed reliever Glen Perkins they will not pick up his 2018 club option worth $6.5 million, MLB.com’s Rhett Bollinger reports. Instead, he will be paid $700,000 per his buyout clause.

Perkins, 34, has pitched a total of 7 2/3 innings over the last two seasons due to shoulder and biceps injuries. Bollinger adds that the two could come to terms on a minor league deal, but if they can’t reach an agreement, the lefty is likely to retire.

From 2011-15, Perkins emerged as one of the better relievers in baseball, making three All-Star teams. He compiled an aggregate 2.84 ERA with 340 strikeouts and 73 walks across 313 1/3 innings.
